Reshaping The New Momentum Of Cross-border E-commerce Goods Import, Export And Export
Reshaping the new momentum of cross-border e-commerce goods import, export and export

Recently, Alibaba International Station, SHEIN, Temu and other e-commerce platforms have become popular overseas, becoming a vivid epitome of China's continued expansion of influence in global trade. Faced with the increasingly complex international trade situation, China's cross-border e-commerce can only take the initiative to adapt and seek changes in order to gain opportunities and reshape new advantages for going global.
In November 2024, the Ministry of Commerce issued the "Several Policy Measures to Promote Stable Growth of Foreign Trade", which clearly proposed to continue promoting the construction of overseas smart logistics platforms; Support regions with conditions to explore the construction of cross-border e-commerce service platforms. Since the beginning of this year, policy support has further increased. The State Council executive meeting held on March 28th proposed to do a good job in expanding the scope of the new round of cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone and further broaden its coverage. With a series of favorable policies being introduced intensively, more and more foreign trade enterprises are taking the wind to go global, and the cross-border e-commerce ecosystem is becoming increasingly perfect.
Preliminary statistics from the General Administration of Customs show that in 2024, China's cross-border e-commerce imports and exports will reach 2.63 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%.
Currently, many e-commerce platforms are accelerating their overseas market layout through technological innovation and service optimization. For example, launching a fully managed service that integrates cross-border product selection, warehousing and logistics, marketing promotion, and after-sales support, lowers the entry threshold for cross-border e-commerce, and allows more small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in the wave of cross-border trade.
To further strengthen the connection between cross-border e-commerce platforms and local export enterprises, relevant departments in various regions should fully leverage their resource coordination advantages and build a three-dimensional support system of "policy guidance+platform empowerment".
Organize enterprises to participate in more domestic and overseas key exhibitions, deepen the matching between supply and demand, encourage financial institutions to launch financial products for cross-border e-commerce, service trade and other new formats, increase support for small and micro foreign trade enterprises exporting products to countries jointly building the "the Belt and Road", ASEAN and other emerging markets, and help enterprises solve capital problems in cross-border settlement.
The vigorous development of cross-border e-commerce relies on infrastructure such as independent websites, pre warehouses, and overseas warehouses. At present, it is a good practice for Ningbo and other places to support enterprises in building export pre warehouses in customs special supervision areas. All regions can also combine their own actual and industrial advantages to jointly build cross-border e-commerce professional parks in the "the Belt and Road" countries, and promote the "cross-border e-commerce+industrial belt" to take root.
Collaborate with overseas economic and trade representative offices and overseas Chinese chambers of commerce to promote the connection between high-quality e-commerce platforms in various regions and global service providers, optimize the supply chain management system, and accelerate market response speed. Actively incubating cross-border e-commerce product selection centers, live streaming bases, smart warehousing and logistics platforms, cross-border supply chain service platforms, and professional talent training bases, forming an integrated cross-border e-commerce industry ecosystem that includes supply chain, logistics chain, data chain, capital chain, and talent chain, achieving positive internal and external interactions, and enhancing comprehensive competitiveness.
Next, cross-border e-commerce platforms and foreign trade enterprises should closely monitor changes in international trade, enhance risk awareness, strengthen overseas risk prevention and compliance training, adjust business strategies in a timely manner, carry out diversified market layouts, and continuously explore new increments in the international market.
On the one hand, cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zones, economic and trade cooperation zones, public overseas warehouses, and overseas marketing service platforms with driving effects should leverage their advantages in technology, operation, and service models to expand online business through foreign trade industry clusters, implement full process service guidance, promote the incubation of more foreign trade enterprises, and further explore new markets and channels overseas.
On the other hand, forging iron also requires its own hard work, and foreign trade enterprises should take digital transformation as an opportunity to enrich personalized services and optimize user experience with the help of digital technology. Further grasp the demand of the international market, promote the upgrading of the entire product design, production, and marketing chain through technological innovation and brand building, enhance product added value, and cope with the price pressure brought by rising costs. Reduce dependence on a single market, actively explore markets such as ASEAN and Europe through offline participation in exhibitions and other opportunities, and use "pre exhibition and post warehouse" to help enterprises expand their markets and increase orders. Innovate promotional strategies, increase promotion on overseas social media platforms, and attract more overseas users.
