Suliman Almazroua, Chief Engineer of Saudi Ports Authority, and numerous senior officials and leaders in the transportation and logistics ecosystem attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

The logistics corridor project was developed and implemented by the Saudi Ports Authority, with an estimated value of over 183.7 million US dollars. It is 17 kilometers long and designed as a two-way two lane road. The project is equipped with 12 overpass emergency access maintenance facilities and a complete rainwater drainage system, which can ensure smooth passage of trucks between the port and logistics park, while bypassing the road network in Jeddah city.

Minister Al Jasser emphasized that this dedicated logistics corridor will increase the cargo throughput capacity of Jeddah Islamic Port by 10%, simplify truck traffic, and significantly improve road safety levels by separating heavy trucks from ordinary urban traffic. This project also has the potential to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce noise and visual pollution, while helping to lower carbon emissions and create a better urban living environment.

Al Jasser said, "This initiative is a key milestone under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, strengthening the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a global logistics hub connecting three continents

This logistics corridor enhances the integration of multimodal transportation and supply chain efficiency, while improving the level of trade facilitation and the operational performance of Jeddah Islamic Port. It has also brought new investment opportunities to the region and created added value for transporters, importers, exporters, shipping companies, and logistics park users.

Jeddah Islamic Port is the main gateway along the Red Sea coast, covering an area of 12.5 square kilometers, with 62 multifunctional berths, state-of-the-art docks, and dedicated facilities to support regional and international trade.

This project marks another important step for Saudi Arabia in promoting the development of the logistics industry and achieving the economic diversification and connectivity goals of the 2030 Vision.
