Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, China's import and export trade with Africa is growing rapidly

2025 is a crucial year for the implementation of the "Ten Major Partnership Actions" between China and Africa, and the Trade Prosperity Partnership Action is an important part of it. With the increasingly close economic and trade exchanges between China and Africa, Meizhou enterprises have ushered in new opportunities for economic and trade cooperation with Africa. The reporter learned from Meizhou Customs that in the first five months of this year, Meizhou City imported and exported 430 million yuan to Africa, a year-on-year increase of 91.7%.

Recently, more than 1400 tons of electrolytic copper imported by Guangdong Jiayuan Technology Co., Ltd. from African countries arrived at Meizhou International Land Port via sea rail intermodal trains, and then entered Meizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone for customs clearance and bonded warehousing.

By utilizing the Meizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone, Meizhou International Land Port 'Area Port Linkage' model, and the 'Sea Rail Intermodal Transport' channel to carry out imports, not only has it helped enterprises save about 30% of logistics costs, but it has also effectively solved the difficulties and bottlenecks in logistics, achieving efficiency, energy conservation, and cost reduction, "said Cai Xuzhen, General Manager of Meizhou Branch of Guangzhou COSCO Shipping Logistics Co., Ltd.

In order to continuously consolidate the import of African goods, Meizhou Customs has implemented precise policies, continuously strengthened the coordination between customs, ports, and railways, released reform dividends in multiple dimensions, guided enterprises to flexibly use the "one ticket, multiple vehicles" customs clearance mode, guided enterprises to apply formula pricing policies, and ensured smooth customs clearance of "African products".

Under the guidance of the "the Belt and Road" initiative, China Africa cooperation has been deepening, and the demand for "Made in Meizhou" in the African market has become increasingly broad. In recent years, high-tech products such as biomedicine and lithium-ion batteries have become increasingly popular in the African market.

Recently, under the supervision of Meizhou Customs, a batch of electrolyte analyzers with a value of about 50000 yuan produced by Meizhou Kangli High tech Co., Ltd. were successfully exported to Kenya.

In order to promote the better export of "Made in Meizhou" to the African market, Meizhou Customs conducted in-depth research and visits to key enterprises to grasp basic information such as industry scale, product characteristics, and operating conditions. Relying on long-term service mechanisms such as "Customs Director's Door to Door Policy" and "Problem Clearing", "One Enterprise, One Policy" accurately assists enterprises in improving product quality and formulating customs clearance plans.

In response to the difficulties faced by some enterprises in understanding the regulations and trade policies of African products, we regularly conduct foreign trade analysis and research on technical trade measures, guiding export enterprises to pay attention to foreign technical standards, conduct product research and development based on the characteristics of the African market, further increase product added value, and match the demand of the African market, "said Guo Xiangdong, head of the Work Department of Meizhou Customs Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

Meizhou Customs will continue to implement various facilitation measures for customs clearance, continuously optimize the business environment, actively serve and promote Meizhou's import and export trade with Africa with more practical measures, and continuously inject new vitality into Meizhou's high-quality development of foreign trade, "said Guo Xiangdong.
