The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released logistics operation data for the first five months of this year on June 29th. From January to May, the total amount of social logistics in China was 13.87 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.3%. In May, the growth rate was 5.0%, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points from the previous month, and the fluctuation range narrowed compared to the previous month. In May, driven by both industrial upgrading and policy efforts, the logistics demand in the vast majority of industrial product segments maintained resilient growth.

From the composition perspective, the industrial products sector will continue to play a role as a ballast, while the logistics demand for intelligent manufacturing in the new energy sector will continue to maintain (rapid) growth.
In addition, the demand for consumer logistics is accelerating. From January to May, the total logistics volume of goods between units and residents increased by 6.4% year-on-year, an increase of 0.5 percentage points compared to January to April. The total logistics volume of goods between units and residents in May increased by 8.3% year-on-year, an increase of 2.1 percentage points from April, indicating that the demand for logistics of goods between units and residents continues to expand under the policy of exchanging old for new consumer goods and the holiday economy. New consumer formats such as live streaming sales and instant retail are becoming increasingly mature.
Under the combination of e-commerce promotions and national subsidy policies, the demand for related consumer logistics has been further stimulated. From January to May, the online retail sales of physical goods increased by 6.3% year-on-year, an increase of 0.5 percentage points from January to April.
