Xie Xiaomei, a staff member of the Nanning Railway Logistics Center of China Railway Nanning Bureau, introduced that in the first half of 2024, the transportation of China Vietnam trains originating from Guangxi will mainly focus on building materials, chemical products, and electronic products. Among them, the shipment volume of coated paper, diesel engines, and dry food will increase by 80%, 270%, and 319% year-on-year, respectively.

 

The roaring trains passing by continuously improve the convenience of Nanning's foreign trade. At present, the freight collection locations of the train include more than 20 cities inside and outside Guangxi region, and cross-border freight transportation covers ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. Nanning International Railway Port has initially become a railway logistics distribution center for China's export of goods to Vietnam.

As the starting point of the China Vietnam freight train, Guangxi has also become an important force in promoting Guangxi's characteristic products and advantageous industries to enter the international market. Since the beginning of this year, Nanning's board, paper products, supermarket products, as well as Guangxi's high-quality products such as tempered glass from Beihai and electronic products from Wuzhou, have been continuously exported to the Vietnamese market through the China Vietnam train.

The functions of Nanning Airport Hub are continuously strengthened

As of now, Nanning Airport has operated a total of 15 international cargo routes, connecting 7 destinations in 6 ASEAN countries and 8 destinations in 4 South Asian countries. It has become an air channel for ASEAN specialty products to explore the Chinese market. In the first half of this year, the international cargo and mail throughput of Nanning Airport reached 54000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 50.3%. Among them, imported goods amounted to 12300 tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.8%. Mainly seafood and fruits, with 4900 tons and 3125 tons respectively, accounting for 40.0% and 25.5% of the total imported goods.

Domestic products are also continuously transported to foreign countries through the Nanning Airport port, mainly general trade goods and cross-border e-commerce goods, such as semiconductors, integrated circuits, chips, and automotive spare parts and other electromechanical products. In the first half of the year, 41700 tons of goods were exported through the Nanning Airport port, a year-on-year increase of 64.27%.

 

At the same time, Nanning Airport actively develops new local sources of goods and started exporting vegetable goods for the first time in May this year. A batch of fresh mustard greens and fresh vegetable hearts from Mashan County were exported to Malaysia.

Accelerate the formation of cross-border industrial integration development mechanism

Going both ways, mutually beneficial and win-win. Nanning, with the aim of building an important strategic hinterland for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, continues to deepen practical cooperation with Shenzhen.

 

In September 2023, the two sides signed a contract to jointly establish the Nanning (Shenzhen) ASEAN Industrial Cooperation Zone and jointly create a cross-border industrial cluster oriented towards ASEAN. In 2023, Nanning and Shenzhen jointly held a special investment promotion conference for the cooperation zone, successfully signing contracts for 37 projects including Nanning International Highway Port (Phase I) with a total investment of 30.06 billion yuan.

 

At present, Nanning City regards the Nanning (Shenzhen) ASEAN Industrial Cooperation Zone as an important measure for Nanning to build an international metropolis that is open and cooperative with ASEAN, and is accelerating the implementation of key issues in the framework agreement. At the invitation of Shenzhen, Nanning is actively preparing to participate in the China ASEAN Emerging Industries Forum to be held in Shenzhen in August this year, attracting more projects to land. Shenzhen Special Economic Zone Construction Group and Nanning Communications Investment Group have established a joint venture preparation team, striving to complete the establishment of the joint venture by September this year.

 

In addition, the electronic information industry park and supporting infrastructure project of Nanning Airport Economic Demonstration Zone, as well as the Nanning Cross border Processing Industry Park and supporting infrastructure project implemented within the cooperation zone, have passed the national special bond review. The construction of Guangxi Import and Export Traditional Chinese Medicine Trade Center is another important measure for Nanning City to continuously smooth the channels of "buying from the whole country and selling to ASEAN, buying from ASEAN and selling to the whole country", accelerate the establishment of a regional trading market facing ASEAN, and promote the two-way flow of goods and factors between China and ASEAN.

 

Since its unveiling in March this year, Guangxi Import and Export Traditional Chinese Medicine Trading Center has signed 20 projects and 15 traditional Chinese medicine enterprises have completed registration in Nanning City. Taking advantage of the policy advantage of expanding the original 14 medicinal and edible product varieties to 39 varieties in the autonomous region. As of now, the center has imported a total of 107 orders of 4844.97 tons of Chinese medicinal materials and medicinal food goods, with a total import value of 9.115 million US dollars.

 

In the Nanning Comprehensive Bonded Zone Traditional Chinese Medicine Processing Industrial Park, the ventilated warehouse of the bonded zone has basically met the storage conditions for the imported bonded business of traditional Chinese medicine. The cold storage and cool storage in the inspection area and non bonded area are expected to be completed before July 30th this year.

 

With the accelerated construction of Guangxi Import and Export Traditional Chinese Medicine Trade Center, Nanning will further leverage its advantages in policy integration, industry integration, and resource integration as the capital, and focus on building four core functions: "distribution center, processing center, trading center, and price center". Nanning City will also rely on the ASEAN Standardization Cooperation and Exchange Center to promote mutual recognition of traditional Chinese medicine standards towards ASEAN, advance traceability management and quality assurance of traditional Chinese medicine, and promote the "introduction" and "going global" of traditional Chinese medicine.
