Introduction to CPSIA

CPSIA certification is the certification of children's consumer products in the United States. The CPSIA certification requirements aim to further strengthen the safety of children's products in the market, increase consumers' confidence in products, limit the use of lead and phthalates in children's products, and implement the mandatory toy standard (ASTM F963). CPSIA is the Security Improvement Act signed and entered into force by US President Bush on August 14th, 2008. The act is the most stringent Consumer Protection Act since the establishment of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in 1972. In addition to stricter requirements on the content of lead in children's products, the new act also makes new provisions on the content of phthalates, a harmful substance in toys and children's care products. In addition, the act also requires the establishment of a public database on consumer goods safety.

matters needing attention

One year after the regulation came into force (August 14th, 2009), manufacturers of children's products must affix permanent, clear and eye-catching signs on their products and related packages, so that consumers can identify and determine the manufacturer's name, production date and place of origin, as well as other relevant production information, so as to ensure the traceability of products.

Unless the product complies with the safety requirements or standards applicable to the regulations or standards, advertisements of consumer goods or the labels and packages of the said products are strictly prohibited to contain alleged information about consumer goods safety regulations or voluntary consumer goods safety standards.

With the implementation of the act, the requirements will be constantly updated and improved. Please pay close attention to the updated information; At the same time, in addition to meeting the requirements of this regulation, we should also pay attention to the additional requirements of American States, such as California 65, and the requirements of other regulations, such as the safety requirements of toys themselves, such as ASTM requirements; And the requirements of electronic products, such as FCC; Other relevant federal requirements for hazardous substances outside the regulations.
